About Me

Hi!  My name is Emily Caryl.  Welcome to my blog!

This site is divided into four different sections (kinda like my life):  My Office, My Home, My Town, and My World.

I've worked in the mortgage industry for over eight years - as a residential mortgage loan originator, delegated underwriter and processor.  Today, I primarily process mortgage loans for other loan originators.  I also occasionally originate loans for friends, family, and folks I meet along the way.  In My Office, I share my knowledge and experience with other mortgage professionals and consumers.  I also hope to feature interesting articles and commentary from other financial professionals in my community.

I relocated from Atlanta, GA to the beautiful small town of Port Townsend, WA in 2003.  In My Town, I report on events, encounters, and the interesting people I meet here.

In My Home, I entertain you with stories of dinner parties, cooking exploits, and craft projects.  I also share stories about my dog, Annie Rose, and my ridiculously loud Quaker Parrot, Zephyr.   

And in My World, I introduce you to friends from far away places.  I amuse you with accounts of road trips to locations near and far.  And I share my experiences and reflections on all things abstract:  from my thoughts on apostrophes to my adventures in caving. 

I'm also a huge Grateful Dead fan, a bluegrass fanatic, and I've seen Phish more times than I can count.  Writing about life often reminds me of a song.  So this site is peppered with some of my favorite music.
